| Mission |
| Knox is committed to reaching out to our community and to the world to encourage
peace and minister to those in need. Here are some of our mission outreach programs. |
 |
| English Improvement Program |
| The English Improvement Program is a free tutoring program that helps the students learn
English. The program was started by Dr. Carl Anderson in the fall of 1997 and is staffed by
one of Knox's bilingual members and several volunteer tutors from the community. The class
is held on Fridays between 9:30 AM and 11:30 AM. Thanks to help from the Multicultural
Center, free child-care for babies (up to 2 years old) is provided during the classes.

| Food Pantry |
| Knox hosts a food pantry that provides bag or two of groceries to low income families.
The groceries include bread and produce. Children will receive a small snack.
The food pantry is open on Thursdays from 4 PM until 5 PM. The food is acquired from
the Redwood Empire Food Bank with the help of a
grant from the food bank. Volunteers are cheerfully welcome! |

| Peace Frog |
What does a frog have
to do with peace? Knox has a long tradition of sharing joyous
events during the worship service -- and, as a token of gratitude to God, offering a
contribution to fund programs that promote peace in our community. The offering plate
is a beautiful ceramic frog circulated among the congregation by one of the children. |

| Habitat for Humanity |
| Knox is a Faith Covenant Partner with Habitat for Humanity of Sonoma
County. We are committed to improving our community by building modest,
affordable homes in partnership with families in need. It was our
privilege to participate in the Faith Build of a home on West Ave
dedicated in April 2006. For more information visit www.sonomacountyhabitat.org |

| The Peace Pole |
"May Peace Prevail on Earth" written in eight languages on a four sided
pole stands at the entrance to our sanctuary. It reflects our commitment
to work for peace, pray for peace, and live in peace. The Peace Pole was
dedicated in memory of Robert M. Tunks, an ardent peacemaker in our
community, in April 2005. For more information about Peace Poles all

| Two Cents a Meal |
Knox is committed to alleviating hunger in our community and around the
world. On the second Sunday of the month we receive a TWO CENTS A MEAL
OFFERING. Every household is encouraged to set aside two cents per meal
per person as way to give God thanks for the blessing of food and to help
those who hunger for daily bread. Two cents equals six cents a day,
forty-two cents a week, $1.86 a month, and $22.32 a year. The offering
supports our own Knox Food Pantry and other hunger relief programs in
northern California in partnership with Hunger Task Force of the
Presbytery of the Redwoods.
In 2006 we set a goal of a MILE WORTH OF
PENNIES (84,400 pennies) which we surpassed by raising 102,600
pennies ($1026)!
In 2007 and 2008 we set a goal of 100,000 pennies (approximately
1.18 miles) and exceeded it!
We are aiming for another 100,000 pennies in 2009. |

| Knox Community Garden |
Knox is hosting a Community Garden on our property that will be open for gardening
in spring of 2010. So far we have tilled 1/3 acre of our property, added compost,
and planted a Rye grass cover crop. Watch our progress on our
Knox Community Garden page.
