Community Garden

Those who plant a garden work hand in hand with God.”

In September 2009 the congregation broke ground for our community garden on an acre and a half of land that had stood fallow for several decades.  On a Saturday in April 2010, community volunteers and gardeners joined the congregation in building 40 planter boxes from donated redwood, moving and placing the 4′ x 10′ boxes on the garden site, and filling them with amended organic soil.  An irrigation system was also installed that day through the donation of expert labor and materials.  It was an amazing accomplishment!

On Sunday, July 12, 2010 the garden was dedicated for God’s glory and praise followed by a garden party.  A labyrinth was added to the garden in August 2010 and a perimeter of 40 bare-root fruit trees was planted in February 2011.

The garden is an extension of our commitment to serve our neighbors who face food insecurity.  See the Food Pantry page.

The garden has forty 4×10 redwood boxes available for a yearly fee of $40 to cover the cost of the water and maintenance.  Call or email to check on the availability of boxes. Gardeners care for their own garden boxes and must commit to volunteer hours for the upkeep of the whole garden.
